Robert M. Malina & Michael A. Clark

Dr. Robert M. Malina has earned doctoral degrees in physical education (University of Wisconsin, Madison) and anthropology (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia), and honorary degrees (doctor honoris causa) from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and the Academy of Physical Education, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. Dr. Malina’s research has included detailed studies of growth and maturation of Olympic athletes less than 18 years of age; participants in youth football, swimming, diving, soccer, skiing, volleyball, and gymnastics; and elite adolescent Portuguese soccer players. Dr. Malina has an extensive publication record in the sport sciences.

Dr. Michael A. Clark has a doctoral degree in education (Michigan State University). Dr. Clark’s research has included major surveys of recreational and sport needs in Detroit and of injuries in youth baseball. In addition, Dr. Clark has made significant contributions to the development of the Program for Athletic Coaches Education (PACE) of Michigan State University and of the National Standards for Athletic Coaches of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
