Carl Foster

Carl Foster, Ph.D., FACSM, is a professor in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. Before that, he served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin Medical School for 12 years (1986-’98). Dr. Foster earned his Ph.D. at the University of Texas and subsequently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Ball State University. One of the most highly respected and published professionals in his field, he has been actively involved in several professional organizations. From 2005-’06, he served as the president of the American College of Sports Medicine. He also is currently the chair of the sports medicine/sports science/drug testing committee for U.S. Speedskating.
