Mike Harkins

Mike Harkins (1928–2010) was the basketball coach at Eastern Montana College (now Montana State University Billings) for 16 seasons. During his tenure, his teams won 290 games, 10 NAIA district titles, and 12 conference championships. He is the winningest men’s basketball coach in MSU Billings history. He also coached four teams in international competition. He was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2007, marking the seventh hall of fame he was named to as either a player or coach. Harkins served as a professor of health, physical education, and recreation at Eastern Montana College, where he received the college’s award for outstanding achievement in scholarship and creativity. In addition, he was awarded Akron University’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
