Nicholas A. Ratamess

Nicholas A. Ratamess, Ph.D., CSCS*D, is an assistant professor in the department of health and exercise science at The College of New Jersey. A former fitness instructor, strength coach, and competitive power lifter who earned a Ph.D. in kinesiology from the University of Connecticut, Dr. Ratamess’ major research interest is examining how the human body physiologically adapts to resistance training and how performance can be optimized through resistance training and supplementation. Dr. Ratamess has authored or coauthored more than 60 scientific investigations, educational articles, review papers, and book chapters on strength and conditioning and sports supplementation. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction and a USA Weightlifting Level I Club Coach who is an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and International Society of Biomechanics in Sports.
