George Overton

George Overton most recently served as the offensive line coach at Ringgold High School (in Monongahela, PA), where he is also employed as a social studies teacher. Following a stellar playing career at Bethany College in West Virginia, Overton began coaching as a graduate assistant at his alma mater. This position was the beginning of a career that has spanned more than 30 years and five schools. Throughout his career, Overton has been part of numerous playoff teams and conference champions. Overton has helped to develop an abundance of high school all-conference players, many of whom went on to successful college careers and one into the NFL. Overton began his high school coaching career as the head football coach at Bishop Boyle High School from 1976 until the closing of the school in 1979. From Boyle, Overton went to Mon Valley Catholic High School, serving as the defensive coordinator for five years. At Mon Valley, Overton made significant contributions in the school's three playoff appearances. In 1986, Overton began coaching at the much-storied Ringgold High School. Overton served in many capacities at Ringgold, the highlight coming in an appearance in the AAAA semi-finals in 1991, while he was the offensive coordinator. Following his stint at Ringgold, Overton began working at Bentworth High School, where he was instrumental in the rise of the program. It was at Bentworth that he put the concept of 26 combo into action, and Bentworth soon began a meteoric rise from a state record losing streak to two consecutive conference championship game appearances. Overton and his wife, Linda, reside in McMurray, Pennsylvania. They have two grown children, Stacey and George Jr.
