Joe Avezzano
Joe Avezzano is the special teams coach for the Oakland Raiders. Previously, he served as the special teams coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 1990-2002. Consistency, big plays, and an ability to positively affect the outcome of games characterized the Cowboys’ special teams under Avezzano’s direction. As the Cowboys’ special teams coach, he was twice named the NFL’s Special Teams Coach of the Year (1991 and 1993). Avezzano began his coaching career in Masallion, Ohio at the high school level. Subsequently, he held a series of positions at the college level (Florida State; Iowa State; Pittsburgh; Tennessee; Oregon State; Texas A&M) before joining the Cowboys’ staff.
