Jeremy Plaa

Jeremy Plaa is entering his sixth year at Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, California and his third year as varsity head football coach. A graduate of Turlock (CA) High School, he attended Modesto JC and San Francisco State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in athletic coaching. Subsequently, he received a master's degree in physical education from the University of Texas–Tyler. He has coached football for 14 years and baseball for nine years. Before coming to Downey High, Plaa served as the defensive coordinator at Modesto High for a season, head football coach for three years at Gustine (CA) High School, and head football coach at Delhi (CA) High School for two years. In 2003, he was selected as the Modesto Bee's District Coach of the Year after a 12-1 season at Gustine, where he led his team to a section championship game. He was selected that year as the head coach of the Lions' All-Star Game at UOP. In his first year as head coach of the Downey gridiron program, his team posted a 6-4 record, after two previous one-win seasons.
