James Brooks

Dr. James Brooks has worked extensively with youth and high school players over the last 28 years. During that time, he helped found the youth basketball league in Abilene, TX, and has coached teams at various age levels. His select high school girls’ teams have competed in numerous regional BCI and AAU tournaments, as well as national BCI tournaments. Many of his former players have gone on to play college basketball at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. Brooks was raised in southern Oklahoma and west Texas. In 1969, he received a doctorate degree in dental surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He then served three years in the U.S. Army. In 1974, he received a masters and a certificate of specialty in periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center. Brooks has seven children, who have experienced the joys and heartaches of athletic competition at the junior high school, high school, and college levels.
