Cheryl Burnett

Cheryl Burnett is the former head coach for the Southwest Missouri State women's basketball team. During her 15 seasons as the head coach of the Lady Bears (1987-2002), she compiled a career record of 319-136 (.711). Over that period, SWMS won eight league crowns and made nine trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the Final Four in 1992 and the Sweet Sixteen in 1993. During her highly regarded coaching career, Burnett was named the MVC Rawlings Coach of the Year in 1994, Converse District V Coach of the Year, and Gateway Conference Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1992. Before accepting the reins at Southwest Missouri, Burnett served as an assistant coach at the University of Illinois.
