Chris Carlisle

Chris Carlisle is the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Southern California, a position he assumed in 2001. At USC, Carlisle has overall responsibility for the conditioning efforts for 19 sports. He came to USC from Tennessee, where he served as the associate head strength and conditioning coach for three years (1998-2000). A 1985 graduate of Chadron (NE) State College, where he was a three-year starter on the football team, Carlisle has coached for almost two decades—at all competitive levels (high school, community college, and college). One of the most respected individuals in his profession, he has developed programs that have helped 11 different teams win national championships (three football; two men’s and women’s track & field; two women’s volleyball; women’s golf; men’s tennis; men’s water polo; and men’s basketball). Carlisle is also a much sought-after speaker who speaks nationally on a variety of conditioning-related topics.
