Jerry Green

Jerry Green is the former head men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee. In his four seasons at the helm of the Tennessee program (1997-2001), Green led the Volunteers to an 89-36 record. During his stint at Tennessee, the Volunteers won at least 20 games each season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament every year. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Green has been successful at every stop in his coaching career. After six seasons of coaching high schools in North Carolina and South Carolina, Green joined the North Carolina–Ashville staff as an assistant in 1977 and was then promoted to head coach of the Bulldogs in 1979. He spent nine years as head coach of UNC–Ashville, achieving a 150-108 record, before taking a position as an assistant to renowned Kansas coach Roy Williams. After working with Williams for four years (1989-1992), he was named the head coach at Oregon, where he spent five seasons (1993-1997).
