Sam McCorkle

Sam McCorkle is the former head football coach at the University of West Alabama, a position he held for three seasons (2003-2005). Before that he served in the same position for three years at the University of Tennessee-Martin (2000-2002). He came to the Skyhawks from Mississippi Delta Community College, where he was the offensive coordinator from 1997-1999. A graduate of Meridian (MS) High School, where he played on two state championship teams, McCorkle attended Livingston University and was a center on the Tigers’ 1971 national championship team. He then began coaching at Talladega High School in Alabama and coached at four different high schools in Alabama prior to getting into college coaching at Ole Miss under Steve Sloan. Other coaching stints he has had include North Texas State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Austin Peay, and six years as head coach at his alma mater, Livingston University.
