Rich Grawer

Rich Grawer was the head coach of men’s basketball at Saint Louis University for 10 years. During that time he averaged 16 wins per season, and twice finished second in the NIT tournament. Grawer holds the Billiken’s record for most wins in a single season with 27, and is widely credited with developing the basketball program into what it is today. Prior to becoming head coach at Saint Louis University, Grawer was an assistant coach at the University of Missouri-Columbia. During his college coaching career he coached several future NBA players, including Anthony Bonner and Steve Stipanovich. Before joining the college ranks, Grawer spent 12 years as the coach at DeSmet High School in St. Louis, posting a record of 270-87 that included three state championships and a 63-game winning streak. Now the athletic director at Clayton High School, Grawer is in demand as a speaker and holds clinics across the nation and around the world. He and his wife, Theresa, live in St. Louis with their six children, all of whom played youth and high school basketball. Three of their children—Kevin, Brian, and Rick—received college basketball scholarships.
