Wayne Westcott

Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D., is a professor of exercise science at Quincy College in Quincy, Massachusetts. Dr. Westcott has been a strength training consultant for numerous organizations, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, the American Council on Exercise, the YMCA of the USA, General Motors, and Nautilus. He has authored 28 books/textbooks, and more than 75 peer-reviewed research/ academic papers.

Dr. Westcott has also served as an editorial advisor, reviewer, writer, and columnist for a number of publications, including The Physician and Sportsmedicine, ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal, ACSM’s Certified News, Fitness Management, Prevention, Men’s Health, and Shape. Furthermore, he has been a keynote speaker for national meetings of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American College of Nutrition, the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association, and a repeat presenter at the Harvard Medical School International Conference on Preventing Obesity.

In addition, Dr. Westcott has received the Roberts-Gulick Memorial Award from the YMCA Association of Professional Directors, the Healthy American Fitness Leader Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Marla Richmond Memorial Education Award from the Medical Fitness Association, and the Alumni Recognition Award from the Pennsylvania State University.
