Phil Martelli
Phil Martelli is the head men’s basketball coach at St. Joseph’s University, a position he has held since 1995. During his successful tenure at St. Joseph’s, he has led the Hawks to five Atlantic 10 regular-season titles, six consecutive trips to post-season tournaments, a trip to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, an ECAC Team of the Year honor, and Philadelphia Big 5 Team of the Year recognition. In the process, Martelli has earned honors as National Coach of the Year in 2004, Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year, and Western College Coach of the Year. Prior to assuming his present position, he served 10 years as an assistant at St. Joseph’s. A 1976 graduate of Widener, Martelli is extensively involved in work in the community.
