Doug Thorburn

Doug Thorburn is an ambitious student of baseball research and player development, blending his professional experience in coaching, scouting, performance analysis, baseball operations, and sports-business management. He arrived at the National Pitching Association in 2005 as an intern from the inaugural class of the Sports M.B.A. program at San Diego State University. Since then, he has taken the lead role with high-speed motion analysis and the NPA model for pitching biomechanics. Thorburn’s subjective experience in the bullpen and his thorough knowledge of the objective tools involved in motion analysis provide him with an impeccable skill set for his role at the NPA. His mastery of his craft enables him to help guide the research that is being conducted at the NPA with an eye toward identifying the optimal training methodology and achieving maximum functional results. Prior to joining the NPA and earning his M.B.A., Doug worked with the front office of the Sacramento River Cats, and earned a B.S. in cognitive neuropsychology from the University of California San Diego.
